Award for young cricket enthusiast Harry

For the past 18 months, Harry Scowen has helped to coach community groups, school children and adults with disabilities on behalf of Hastings Priory Cricket Club. He also helps the club’s colts co-ordinator with indoor league scoring, umpiring and junior team management.

Roger Newman, who nominated Harry on behalf of the club, said he is a very reliable and incredibly enthusiastic member of the team. He has completed his entry level coaching award and delivers 4 to 5 hours a week of cricket coaching.

The monthly award is sponsored by the College and Observer and presented to someone aged 18 and under who has excelled in some way. This could be in sport, their academic studies, or if they have performed an important role on a voluntary basis in their own home or the wider community.

Ashley Chapman, Marketing Projects Executive at Sussex Coast College Hastings, said: “Harry dedicates a lot of his spare time to giving coaching sessions to others and he is an asset to the cricket club.”
