Battle gallery to host Udimore artist’s only solo show of 2012

AN INTERNATIONALLY renowned painter and printmaker from Udimore will hold her only solo show of 2012 in Battle from today (Saturday).

Until October 20, Saffron Gallery in Battle will host an exhibition of work of Udimore artist Brenda Hartill RE.

Saffron will exhibit a collection of Brenda’s latest watercolours on embossed, hand-made paper; her original prints and her rarely seen encaustic paintings.

Brenda, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers, abstracts the essence of the landscape, in richly coloured works, often enhanced with silver and gold leaf.

Renowned internationally for her printmaking skills, her most recent work is a series of watercolours on hand-made paper, embossed using her printmaking techniques and presses.

Brenda’s early experiences in picturesque New Zealand, where she lived for a number of years, encouraged an ongoing fascination with the power of the earth - such as earthquakes, volcanoes, geology, erosion, weather patterns and global warming.

This fascination has long influenced her work which she regularly exhibits internationally and is held in major collections including BP, Bank of England, Global and BT.

Framed and unframed prints will be available in a variety of sizes, palettes, techniques and prices.

Art lovers will get the chance to meet Brenda Hartill at the Saffron Gallery on Saturday October 20, 2-4pm.

Brenda will give a free talk on her methods and techniques, a tour of the exhibits, plus the event will see the exclusive launch of Brenda’s new instructional DVD ‘Collagraph, A Sculptural Approach to Printmaking’.

Brenda will also be selling and signing copies of her book ‘Collagraphs and Mixed Media Printmaking’ which is now in its fourth print run.

Space is limited and allocated on a first come, first serve basis.
