The tourist industry is very important to Battle, which is the centre of 1066 Country, and the FSB want to encourage the industry to buy local.

Many local shops and restaurants pride themselves on sourcing high quality local produce, but there is room for more to do so.

The campaign is also about encouraging local consumers to think small first when setting off to the shops, employing a service or visiting a cafe.

Mr Barker said: “This is a great campaign by the Federation of Small Businesses.

“I love to shop locally when I am in the constituency as I know I am getting great quality goods and fantastic service.

“I would encourage everyone to visit their local high street shops to make sure our local high streets remain the heart of our communities.”

Brett McLean said: “The FSB is grateful for Mr Barker’s help in promoting such a vital campaign educating consumers and tradespeople to buy local. The message is clear use it or lose it!”
