Battle residents encouraged to get involved to improve life in their communities

BATTLE residents who have ideas for projects to improve and enhance life in their community are being urged to put these plans into action.

The Hastings Trust, working in partnership with Hastings Furniture Service, Rother Voluntary Action and Rye Partnership, has received funding from the Government’s Social Action Fund, for a one year volunteering initiative called Neighbourhood Enablers.

The Neighbourhood Enablers scheme will assist, support and provide training to local residents or groups who have ideas for projects that would benefit their community in a positive way. This innovative scheme is already receiving a lot of interest across Rother and many exciting projects are currently under way.

Many Battle residents will be able to take advantage of this pilot project which intends to encourage grassroots volunteering and support those who would not usually volunteer to get involved to deliver locally identified solutions to local needs and issues.

Support will be given to volunteer-led projects by providing training and access to funding - all ideas are welcome.
