It’s time to get your creative thinking caps on, as entries are now being taken for the annual Battle Scarecrow Festival.
The ever-popular event, which takes place between July 4 and 23, will have the theme ‘1066 And All That’, to coincide with the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings.
Cllr Richard Jessop, one of the organisers of the event, said: “Although interpretation of the theme is open to all entrants, ones depicting either Saxons or Normans in a fighting mode may be picked to go in front of the Abbey Gatehouse to provide a display of the battle.”
All proceeds this year will go to the Battle Museum and Guide Dogs for the Blind.
The event is being supported by Littlewood Fencing and AHA Copy Shop and Stationers.
Several prizes are up for grabs for the most imaginative creations.
Entry forms must be completed and returned to The Almonry, High Street, or AHA in Mount Street, along with the £5 entry fee, by June 6.
Cheques should be made payable to Battle Chamber of Commerce. Email email@example.com for further information.
