Mrs Deborah Ongley

Beckley Main Street

A big thank you to everyone who came along to support the Beckley Horticultural summer show on Saturday. It was a great turn out and wonderful to see the impressive array of veg flowers craft work photos and home produce. We realise it may have seemed a little chaotic when everyone descended on the village hall with their entries, but we did our best. What a nice problem to have! We had more than twice the number of entries compared to last year’s show and that, combined with lack of table space, made both entering and the accounting of prize winners difficult in the time. If we missed mentioning any of the winners we can only apologise. Please don’t let this put you off, we need your support!! See you all at the Autumn Show on Saturday 21 September; it will be here before you know it! Phil Maynard, Show Secretary

Great news for Beckley computer club. This time around they are doing it a little differently. running two courses at the same, one in the computer suite and one in the room opposite - people bring their own laptop (max 4 people) and do a troubleshooting workshop - a lot of people have bought a new laptop and this has Windows 8 on it, and they want help -they come to a class and get things working and moving on for them.

They are doing 3 different classes in the computer suite:

Basic: For the novices, people who are scared to use a computer or have very basic knowledge. The course runs for 6 weeks at a time and will cover, Word processing, spread sheets, the internet etc. £30.

General: For people who know how to use a computer and can get by doing only what they need. This course will allow you to become more effective, efficient and confident in using the computer, programs and the internet. This is 5 weeks and £25

Internet Safety: How to bank, shop, surf, research and even date online. It does not only understand how to use the internet, but also understand how to keep you and your information safe. This is for 4 weeks and £20

The troubleshooting workshop runs alongside these courses, 3 weeks at a time and £15.

The basic course starts on 31st July, which is fully booked.

However, there are 2 places left for the workshop starting on 31st July ending 14th August and 3 places on the second workshop starting 21st August finishing on the 4th September. The general course starts on the 25 September and again that’s fully booked.

They have 4 places currently on the workshop running on the 25th September to and 9th October and 16th October to 30th. Further info call 07904 837 751
