Once again the Friends of Beckley Church are holding the ever popular Church Fete in the Glebe Field Beckley on August Bank Holiday Monday at 1.00 p.m.

As usual it promises to be a really friendly family village do with HOOE VILLAGE BAND providing the musical background and a splendid FUN DOG SHOW as the central attraction with TEAS provided by BECKLEY W.I in the Church and all the usual Stalls providing fun and entertainment for all. There is a GRAND RAFFLE with Great Prizes to be won and a super BRIC a BRAC Stall amongst the many. Entry is Free and so is the Parking down in Church Lane. Do come along at 1.00 p.m. and join in the fun. Our new Curate Dr Bill Dolman will be opening the FETE for us and then helping out on the huge BOOK STALL. A real Family Day Out! Do Come! Beckley horticultural society are holding their usual table at the church fete, august bank holiday Monday in the glebe field. Any members or non-members with produce please bring it to the glebe field from 12pm. Any items greatly appreciated.

Beckley 10k takes place earlier this year on Sunday September 23rd so you need to get training now! This is always a good village event and there is a children’s 1 Mile race and a Fun Run of just over 2 miles for those who feel the 10k might be just that little bit too far. Beckley Parish Council has their new website up and running. Please check it out. the next parish meeting is Wednesday 12th September 730pm in the Beckley village hall. All welcome.

Don’t forget Jempsons Bus service. They run a daily bus service for customers without their own cars, the elderly and those with mobility problems, to the Peasmarsh Superstore.

The service runs through Beckley every Monday and Tuesday (once in the morning, then again in the afternoon) calling at the Rose & Crown then Four Oaks, the bus will conveniently stop anywhere if it is safe to do so in-between these points.

Beckley Buzzy Bees Toddler Group. They meet at the Beckley Village Hall, Every Wednesday morning from 9.15 to 11.15.Supported by the Playgroup and a qualified member of staff is on hand during the session to assist with the organisation and to coordinate events. Speakers are regularly arranged and a “healthy snack time” is part of the session. The group offers a friendly supportive atmosphere to all visitors for just £2.00 a session (to cover running costs) everyone is welcome throughout the morning and more details can be obtained from Julie on the Playgroup phone numbers or by e-mail at

Bargains in Beckley. Setup for locals to sell items they no longer need and want to sell, if you are looking for something why not try posting a wanted post. Dog fouling isn’t just unpleasant, it’s illegal. Dog owners have a responsibility to clear up after their pets, those that don’t can face fines of up to £1,000.If you would like to make a dog fouling complaint please phone 01424 787000 if you don’t make this call they will keep letting their dogs do it.

Beckley Preschool aim to provide activities and equipment in a relaxed and happy atmosphere so that children will progress in all areas of development and become independent in preparation for school.
