BLOOMING LOVELY

LEWES Town Council paid tribute to the community's green fingered citizens at its annual In Bloom awards.

Overall winner in the residential gardens class was Carol Morgan, 57, of Gundreda Road, whose quarter acre of colour-themed beds of shrubs and flowers impressed the judges.

Said Mrs Morgan: 'I'm delighted and I shall be back again next year.'

Second was Denise Rendell of Hamsey Crescent and third was Mrs P Parsons of Pellbrook Road.

The residential window boxes, tubs and hanging baskets section was won by Mrs S Porter of Western Road.

Second was E Pilbeam of Hillyfield and third was Mrs J Haynes of Caburn, Culfail.

Winner of the trade premises section '“ pubs, hotels and restaurants '“ was The Lewes Arms in Mount Place with The Rainbow in the High Street in second place.

Top of the list in the other trade premises section was Anne of Cleves House in Southover High Street.

Second was Parterre in the High Street.

Judges were Philip Pople, Chris Bibb and Martin Pett.
