Bodiam has the mindless idiots back at the top green at Levetts Lane the other day. Amicus Horizon are a poor lot in some ways, but do work hard to keep the green nice. The crime number is 271 of March 23. I feel the idiots have something wrong with them. It beggars belief and sickens me. If anyone has any information, please phone the police on 01273 470101 and ask to be referred to Battle Police Station.

Bodiam was due to have a power cut on March 27, but due to operational constraints has been postponed and UK Power Networks will contact residents once the work is rescheduled.

Bodiam had a very good parish assembly with very good reports from the Bodiam Church of England School Council, Claremont School, parish council, Rother Valley Railway, St Giles Church and many more, with very good refreshments.

Alan and Marion, who run the National Trust bookshop at Bodiam Castle, would like to thank everyone for recent kind donations of books, which is greatly appreciated and will help raise much-needed funds for ongoing projects at Bodiam. I do feel that we must thank Alan and Marion for their hard work in running the bookshop. National Trust seem to forget sometimes the people who work for free.

At last the land slip in the main street of Bodiam has been removed. But why oh why did it take so long? Phone calls were made to ESCC many times and so the village sent for our ESCC Cllr Angharad Davies. Many thanks Angharad.

Sunday bus service and Bank Holiday bus services start on April 6 from Hastings to Hawkhurst via Bodiam and Hawkhurst to Hastings. For more information phone 01580 830211.

The next flexible bus service run by Battle Area Community Transport to Ashford via Bodiam is on April 25. Call Lyn on 01424 772001 to book.

I’ve just come home from St James’ Church, Ewhurst Green, for the service for Philippa Hawes, who died on March 12. And what music - Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler. You can still make donations in memory of Philippa, payable to Pevensey Ward Fund and may be sent c/o C Waterhouse and Sons, High Street, Burwash, TN19 7ET.
