The parish council has ordered an oak tree for the Jubilee celebrations. The plaque for the oak tree has arrived and is safe in the clerk’s bedroom.

A temporary road closure will take place between July 9 and July 13, the B2244 Hawkhurst Road Great Wigsell from its junction with C19 Bodiam Road. Access for pedestrians should not be affected and vehicular access for residents and to properties should be maintained whenever possible. For more information phone 0345 60 80 193.

Claremont School is to have a Faure Requiem on Saturday June 30, 7pm, at All Saints Church in Hastings. Entry free of charge but there will be a retiring collection in aid of the Tigers in Afghanistan, the welfare fund of the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment.

Next service at St Giles will be the Family Service at 11.15am and lay reader Jenny will take the service.

Sorry to hear that the sister of Graham Holmes, from Northlands Cottages, has died. Condolences to Graham and the family.

Levetts Lane Residents’ Association Fun Day on the Top Green at Levetts Lane, is open to all on July 15. Is starts at 2pm with raffle, cakes, barbecue, football and lots more. If anyone can help or give prizes, phone 01580 830462/830981/830632.

The Flower Festival and Jubilee Plant Sale in St Giles Church on July 14/15, from 10am-4.30pm on both days. Entrance is free, donations welcome, all in aid of church funds. For the event Levetts Lane Residents Association is asking everyone to plant up their old shoes (but make sure you have a pair left) and this will make a display down the church path.
