Bognor concert band seeks players

Musicians in the Bognor Regis area can get the chance to play with the town's concert band this month as they are looking for new members.

The Bognor Regis Concert Band is looking for new players to join their ranks as they begin to work on their concert programme for 2009.

The 25-strong band has played to hundreds of people across the town this year, including on the lawns of the Royal Norfolk Hotel for the annual Last Night of the Proms concert in June.

The band, led by musical director Howard Burchfield, also won the Mayor's Trophy at the Chichester Music Festival.

New chairman Nigel Dobinson, who took over from Sue Ross this summer, said: "With the number of concerts we performed this summer, we hope many people had the opportunity to enjoy the musical programme.

"If there were any musicians in the audience who are looking for a local band to join, our open evening is their opportunity to take part."

The band is holding an open evening on Tuesday, September 23, from 8pm at the Regis School of Music in Sudley Road for all musicians to come and play a couple of tunes with the band, or to simply meet other members.
