Bognor trio to gossip for cash in 24-hour talkathon

Three friends are going to be chattering for cash in Bognor Regis.

Julie Fellows, Mary-Ann Spindler and Liz Lawrence are attempting to talk their way through an entire day.

Their 24-hour talkathon will be in aid of the Sussex Snowdrop Trust with a 500 fundraising target

They will start their non-stop nattering at 5pm on June 18 and continue until 5pm the next day.

The destination for their ultimate girliegossiping session will be the Gordon Centre in Canada Grove.

Aldwick resident Julie (62) said: "The idea started because we just didn't have enough time to catch up on all our gossip when we normally get together."

Part-time secretary Mary-Ann (48), of Bognor, continued: "So, we thought we needed time when we could find out all each others' family news, news about work and our friends. We won't be short of things to talk about."

Housewife and BROS Musical Productions actor Liz (46), of North Bersted, explained: "Everyone I have spoken to about what we are doing says that, if anyone can do it, we can."

She and Julie have been friends for 25 to 30 years, while Mary-Ann and Julie have known each other for 13 years. They expect their talkathon to speed past. To help the conversation flow, even in the early hours, they will each bring in two items to talk about.

Having three of them taking part will enable two to carry on talking while the other has a quick break.

Three adjudicators will ensure the flow of spoken words is continuous.

The Sussex Snowdrop Trust was chosen as the beneficiary because it was the favourite charity of Julie's late husband. Diane Levantine, the trust's joint founder, will be visiting the talkathon.

Other visitors will be welcome to call in, for the price of a donation, to help keep the conversation flowing.
