Arundel Bowling Club members are devastated after new gates honouring a late player were stolen.

The wrought-iron gates were officially opened just a month ago and were bought with money from husband and wife David and June Mitchell. Mrs Mitchell died of cancer last May. She had been a member since 1992.

The June Mitchell Memorial Gates were stolen between Sunday, May 18 and Monday, May 19 from the Mill Road club.

Club member Ken Suttle said: "Before she died she expressed the wish to do something for the club, something tangible, and she was interested in having a rather better entrance than we had before.
