Please beware of scams. People are phoning saying that your bank account has been tampered with and that they can help. They ask you to put the phone down and call the police. They continue to hold so that you are still speaking to them. They ask for bank details and account numbers please; please do not give these out over the phone. The Police and the Bank would never ask you for these numbers. If possible buy a phone with a display unit then only answer calls you recognise. Also be aware of doorstop callers. They use distraction techniques and may steal from you. If you have a chain put it across your door before opening it. Remember to take it off because if the emergency services need to gain access to your house a chain can cost valuable seconds and maybe your life. A number of people were affected by the electricity cut over the Christmas period, I am aware many neighbours helped each other but it has come to my ears that some did not see or hear from anyone. If you are ever worried and think the Parish Council can help the phone numbers of the councillors are on the back page of the red Brede Newsletter. Or you can contact Father Martin 01424 883408 and he will do what he can.
