Keep a cold at bay: Although Winter as such has not reached our county yet there are a number of people snuffling and coughing. I have been asked to print an old remedy once again. Cut a good handful of thyme and place it in a pint jug, add 2 tablespoons of honey and 1pt of boiling water. Allow it to stand for approx 10 minutes take out the thyme and pour into a flask, as the hotter you drink it the better it is for you. Pour a sherry glass full and gargle it then swallow. Do it as many times as you need throughout the day. If it is really bad it may be necessary to repeat the process more than once.
Good neighbours: It is also a good time if you are elderly and also if you have hot meals brought to your home that you buy some big soup or something equally as hearty that you are able to prepare yourself in case snow does come. If you live in the Village Please note the Councillors telephone numbers on the back cover of the Brede Newsletter that everyone should have received in December. If you have a problem or live alone contact Lesley the Clerk or one of the councillors, I am one of them and I do not mind you calling me if you need help. Also make yourself known to your neighbours we are a friendly lot in the village and majority of us will help if we can. Neighbourhood watch is active in the village so if you are going to be away let the coordinator know as well as your neighbours. Crime Stoppers number is 0800555111 or www.crimestoppers.uk.org
