Oh what sad news I have come back to: I have been on holiday and on my return I learnt of three deaths in our village. On Wednesday last week a memorial service was held in St George’s Church for Helen Parkes wife of the late Dr Ray Parkes who many people that have lived here for a long time will have known. Helen was always pleased to stop and speak and she was a lovely lady sorely missed in the last few months, as she was in Peasmarsh Place. Please place her children and grandchildren in your prayers.

On Thursday also last week the thanksgiving service was held for Tara Batchelor, Tara worked at the School before working for the Fellowship of St Nicholas and the Dragonfly project. She also was Assistant Beaver Leader when I ran the Brede Beaver Colony, she did much more and I know so many people will miss her laugh and loving nature. Tara had pancreatic cancer and any money donated will go to that cause, www.justgiving/myloveytara and follow the instructions or there is a facebook connection. Darren her husband would like to raise awareness of this killer disease. Our thoughts and prayers are with Darren, Jack and Oliver.

Also Please pray for the family of Brian Gofrey who’s funeral takes place on Monday in St George’s Brede, I apologise I do not have more details. What a sad start to the month and according to Father Martin there are more although they may not all be from this Parish.

Keep Britain Tidy Week 3rd – 6t and it has been decided that we want our Village clean and beautiful before then; so if you wish to join the litter pickers of the Village, we shall be congregating at Brede Village Hall at 10am on Saturday 27 February for a quick coffee and decision where we will go. If you are unable to join us but feel disgruntled about the amount of litter around our beautiful Village then please do what you safely can around your home and surrounding area, and if you are a walker or dog walker perhaps during that week you could also carry a bag with you to collect litter as you go. It all makes a difference and it would be lovely to see the daffodils and catkins waving in the breeze without them being marred by rubbish.
