Friday 9 November: Brede Farmers Market in Brede Village Hall from 10am – 12noon. The French man was there last week selling his wonderful cheeses and pȃtė and the plants man was there too. Sadly Charlie was not, his vegetables were there but he is unwell and we wish him well and hope he recovers soon. Brede Short Mat Bowls are at 7.30pm in Brede Village Hall.

Black and White Ball’ Join St Michael’s Hospice for their inaugural charity ball at the prestigious Montgomerie Suite, Bannatyne Hotel, Hastings. Perfect for groups of friends, family and colleagues, the theme for this year’s ball is Black and White and they are looking forward to seeing everyone dressed in their most glamorous outfits! Tickets are £45 and include a welcome drink, three course meal, and live entertainment from Magician Michael Drinkwater and the local band, ‘The Do Theys.’ Each table at the event seats 10 people and there is no minimum or maximum ticket bookings required. Remembrance Sunday 11 November Battles Over—A Nation’s Tribute and Ringing for Peace. To help celebrate the 100th Anniversary since the end of WW1 Bells will ring out all over the Country today.

At the Trinity Methodist Church Mr James Clephane-Cameron will be taking the service at this morning’s worship at 10.30am The Reverend Peggy Heim is the Pastoral Minister and can be contacted on 01424 422350 The seat at the back of the Church is there for all to use, they would be delighted to see you sit in the tranquil wildlife garden and admire the view.

At St George’s Church, a sung Family Eucharist will be held at 9.30am followed by The Remembrance Service at 10-.45am The Church bells will be ringing before both services and they will also ring at 12.30pm as all the Bells will ring out. Brede’s tribute to help celebrate the 100 years since the end of the First World War The community are asked to help mark the occasion by going to St George’s Church at 6.55 pm the sounding of the Last Post. 7pm the Beacon will be lit in Waterworks Lane (from this point you can see the other beacons light up. Chris Sands will be lighting our Beacon. Then at 7.05pm the Bells will ring out once more. Father Martin can be reached on 01424 883408. Thursday 6 December The Cranbrook town Band’s Christmas Concert is in St George’s Church at 7.30pm money raised will go to the refurbishment of the Beacon and to St George’s It will be £6 for adults including a glass of wine and a mince pie and £1 for Children under 15 including squash and cake, money taken on the door.There will be a raffle too. A wonderful evening to continue enjoying your Christmas time Celebrations.

The Rye and District National Trust meet at 2pm Their speaker is Pete Allen his talk is’ Watching the Detectives’ in Brede Village Hall; followed at 7pm in The Village Hall small meeting room, the Village Hall Management Committee meeting – all are welcome.

Surnames O-S Wednesday 21st November Surmames T-Z Thursday 29th November all the latter are at 2pm – 3.30pm no appointment is needed at the Nothiam Surgery . Children’s Flu Clinics the vaccination will be offered at their school for the reception class and classes 1.2.3,4,and 5 those under 17 and Pre school children can access the Nasal Flu Clinics at the Surgery by appointment on Thursday 22 November from 2pm. Future Events and Bookings

Rother District Council: would like to make you aware that there are all-out District Council elections next year, based on the new ward boundaries which come into effect in May 2019 (the details of which can be seen at the following link: http://www.lgbce.org.uk/all-reviews/south-east/east-sussex/rother). The Council is holding a pre-election event at which people who are interested in standing for election can find out more about how they could represent their community.

Monday 19 November The event is being held at the Town Hall, Bexhill from 6.30 to 8.30pm, and will offer people the chance to speak to current serving councillors and senior officers. They will also be able to find out more about the varied services the council provides, the challenges it faces in the years ahead and the support councillors receive. People interested in attending the event are asked to register their interest by emailing [email protected] by Wednesday 14 November

Care for the Carers: run a monthly Carers Information and Advice Group which meets the 4th Thursday of the month, 10am – 12pm at St Mary’s Centre, Lion Street, Rye TN31 7LB, and we are looking forward to seeing some new faces there from the Brede and local Rye areas.

‘Samaritan’s Purse’ Anyone taking part in the shoe box appeal can hand in their packed boxes at the Rectory by 17 November if that is helpful.
