Easter Lilies: please contact Sue Sturmey 01424 882544 The cost of the white lilies for Easter will be £2.50 per stem. Please let her know if you would like to purchase or donate lilies to be arranged in the Church for Easter in memory of a loved one, you will also need to give her the details of those you wish to be included in the Memorandum List, if you wish other blooms to be used this can be arranged.

Piano Wanted: Brede Village Hall Committee is hoping someone who has a good condition upright piano that they do not use or want anymore would be kind enough to donate it to them. Unfortunately when the Village Hall Piano was tuned they were told it was on its last legs and it would not be in their best interest to have it tuned again. It is used by a number of hirers of the Hall and they would like to replace is quite soon. Please contact me at the above if you can help.

Gloves still not picked up: Someone sitting in the front row in Brede Village Hall at the Rainbow Trout meeting left their leather gloves behind. I am sure you would like them back. They are in my position so please contact me.

It’s Spring, Let’s Sing: last Saturday was a wonderful event; it was incredibly well supported with over 80 people turning up. The meal of chicken and leek pie with new potatoes and red cabbage cooked by the Udimore ladies was delicious, as were the many puddings provided by many Broad Oak and Brede ladies. Gary conducted us in his own way which at times was hilarious to himself and others. Duncan accompanied the singing between courses. It was a most enjoyable evening amongst many friends. Those of you missed the event because you tried to book to late or to those who do not read the Parish magazine or the Parish Council Newsletter or have the Observer or Observer Village Voice on line to keep up with what’s going on, missed a very good community spirited event. Hopefully a lot of money was made for St George’s Brede and St Mary’s Udimore.

Many events were cancelled last year: at the last minute because of a supposedly lack of interest. Afterwards people said’ oh I wanted to go to that.’ But of course it was too late and many people had put themselves out organizing the events. Please can I ask on behalf of all those organizing an event, that if there is a deadline to order tickets etc that they are adhered to because if food or entertainment is to be paid for people need to know in advance if there is an interest. Most events are held to raise money for some cause and therefore the organizers do not have money behind them if things go pear shaped.
