Tomorrow he is getting married in London and I would like to offer congratulations and thanks for keeping our last remaining general shop alive. Don’t forget to call in to the Stores and sign the petition to try and restore post office counter facilities. A list of names of those who support the scheme is being collected and if you can add your name it would be greatly appreciated.

here is another Village Dance tomorrow, Saturday, June 30, from 7.30 pm. The programme as usual will include favourite dances from ballroom, sequence, Latin to line dancing. Entrance is £3.00. Proceeds from these dances goes to local charities and so far several thousands of pounds has been donated to them. Brede Mothers’ Union’s next meeting, their Strawberry Tea, has been re-arranged for Thursday, July 5, to be held in Udimore Community Hall at 3.00 pm.

Brede Cricket Club have a game against Northiam at the Recreation Ground this Sunday, July 1, starting at 2.30 pm and will also be at home to Burwash the following week, July 8.

Tickets are still available for the two concerts taking place shortly in St. George’s Church. The concert to celebrate the life and music of Florence Aylward is being given on Sunday, July 1, at 6.00 pm featuring Prudence Raper (contralto) and Michael Paine (piano). Tickets are £10, including wine and refreshments, and can be obtained by calling 01424-882412. Next Saturday, July 7, at 7.30 pm, Gary Marriot and Duncan Reid are having a musical evening in aid of the Friends of St. George. Tickets will be £7.50, including a finger buffet and glass of wine, and can be obtained from Marion Firman by calling 01424-751165 or at the Church door.

Services at St. George’s Church during the coming week will be a Sung Eucharist at 9.30 am and Evening Prayer at 6.00 pm on Sunday, July 1, with Holy Communion on Wednesday, July 4 at 10.00am. The next Messy Church is being held on Tuesday, July 3, at 4.00 pm in Udimore Community Hall. It is for all ages and an adult must bring a child or vice versa. Each meeting is themed, has a creative messy activity, sing song and ends with a shared meal. This meeting’s theme will be ‘Feeding the 5,000’.
