Burglaries up

Housebreakers have taken advantage of the arrival of winter by stealing items from several properties. The rate of burglaries in the past ten days has increased compared to recent months. They have occurred in central Bognor as well as Pagham, Felpham and Middleton.

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said homeowners should take care to secure their homes to stop the crooks.

'We would encourage residents who are not working and out all day, to be vigilant and call the police if they see any person or people acting suspiciously within their community,' she stated.

She added that lights should be left on when properties were empty. A timer should be used if people were at work all day.
