Tonight is music night at the Pavilion in Burwash Common. These monthly events are an enjoyable way of listening to the local talent of our three villages. Musicians and singers will entertain you from 8pm. There will be a licensed bar. Do go along and see how much talent there is.
Tomorrow the spring clean of St Bartholomew’s Church yard will take place. This annual task performed by willing volunteers will clear away the winter debris and allow the sping flowers to blossom. If you would like to help go along at 9am. Taking your own tools will probably be a great help. Many hands make light work. Hope the weather is good for this.
Have you got your tickets for the performance of Alice in Wonderland, which is being staged by the children of the Musical Theatre group. It is on tomorrow evening at 7.30pm in the Burwash Village Hall. the children have been rehearsing and preparing for this production for months and would be really delighted if there was a full house. Tickets are still available for One Man Theatre’s performance of The Passion Story. Brian D Barnes will be performing his own unique adaptation of this in Etchingham Village Hall tomorrow afternoon from 3pm. Internationally renowned Brian, who has lived in Burwash for many years is just amazing in his telling of the famous stories, Wind in the willow, Three men in a boat, Alice in Wonderland are just a few. The Burwash branch of Age concern will be having their lunch club on Monday at the Bear Motel. This monthly lunch is enjoyed by those over 55 and costs only £8 for a delicious two course meal, among congenial company. Transport may be available for those who need it. On Monday 22 april a special supper is being held at the Bear to raise funds for the Shoeboxes for the Troops. For several years, Shirley Viney has been sending shoeboxes out our soldiers on duty in the war torn areas of the world. She packs them with small items such as lip salve, washing equipment, deodorants, playing cards, sweet, peanuts, tissues and other items that help to make their tour of duty more pleasant. She has been supported in this by generous donations of items from well wishers in the community. The supper will help to buy things she is not given. The choice of sausage & Mash, fish & chips or vegetarian option, plus hot or cold sweet, after a starter is £15 per person. Seagulls over Burwash will be holding another meeting on Wednesday, in the Bear at 7.30pm. This supports group of Bright & Hove Albion enjoy a special rapport with the club and have some of their executives and players to speak to them. This time they will be welcoming Chairman Tony Bloom to this meeting.
