Last week the village hall committee held a very enjoyable come to tea afternoon, to help raise funds for maintenance of the building. Delicious cream teas were served, a raffle and bric a brac stall for browsing. Despite the poor attendance we raised £158. Our grateful thanks to those who did come and those who manned the stalls.

The next Parish footpath walk will take place on Monday morning, leaving the bear car park at 9am. These walks take in the network of public footpaths, helping to keep them in use and good repair for everyone to use. As this is on Easter Monday it is a great chance for those normally at work when the walks are taken to join in. Roger Cloke will be delighted to lead you and bring you back to the village in time for lunch.

On Wednesday the Burwash Ladies Group outing will be a guided your of Eastbourne. All members will be taken around the town and have interesting buildings and places pointed out to them by their guide. Call Secretary Julie Coggill if you would be interested in joining them.

On Thursday afternoon their will be a big tea event at Pippins thanks to host Margaret Swift. It will be from 3pm until 5pm. and will include tea and homemade cakes. All the proceeds will be given to St Michael’s hospice.

Today the Hour before the Cross service will take place in St Bartholomew’s Church at 2pm. The church will then be decorated with Easter LIlies on Saturday morning by the Church flower guild. Donations of spring flowers and foliage would be very welcome. Call Diana Workman on 01435 8825278 or Celia Merchant 882360. The Easter family service will take place at 10am on Sunday with the lighting of the Easter Candle.

Last year a few people got together to celebrate St George’s day with a party on the green at Hornbeam. It was a lot of fun with lots of games for the children to enjoy. Families took along plates of food and shared them around, and a barbecue was lit for hot food. They intend to hold another one this year, on Sunday 27th April and would be delighted if you came along. Go on to the Burwash Community facebook page and see more and let them know you will be there. More games have been made and it is hoped to have a maypole.
