You are all welcome to come along to Elphick’s garden tomorrow and Sunday from 2pm until 5pm. This beautiful two acre garden includes many different types of garden from the lovely lake area to cottage beds, vegetables and more. There are plenty of areas to take a seat and admire the areas. Entry is £3 per person, only guide and hearing dogs are permitted in the garden. There will be plenty of home made cakes and refreshments available throughout both afternoons. There will also be a raffle. Proceeds will go to The Burwash village hall funds and Aaron’s trip to the world scout jamboree in Japan. For parking why not leave the car in the Catholic Church car park and walk to the garden.
The next Parish footpath walk will take place on Monday morning at 9am. You are all very welcome to go along and join the walk which will leave the bear car park lead by Roger Cloke. The walks include many of the public footpaths that are so much a feature of the villages. Dogs are welcome provided they are kept under control. You should be back at the Bear in time for lunch.
There will be an outdoor celebration of Summer Fruits and Fizz on Sunday 27th St Philip’s Church from 11.45am. You are all welcome to go along and join in the fun and enjoy summer fruits and pink fizz. Please take along summery cakes, jellies & jams you have made. There will be an abundance of summer fruits to buy and recipes for jams. All in aid of Tree of Hope, a worth while charity helping local children.
From 24 July to 4 September the Jumble Book Trail is to be part of the fun for young visitors at Bateman’s, the home of the author of the The Jungle Book, Rudyard Kipling. Normal admission fees apply plus £2-50. The Jungle book characters are hiding in the garden, follow the trail and find them all to win a jungle prize.
The Burwash Internet cafe is held every Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 10am to 1pm. It costs locals 20p an hour to use it. It continues to give internet users the help and support they need. The recent trip of Seagulls Over Burwash to the Sussex versus Kent derby was a huge success. Thanks to Simon Oakly and Tesky O’Niel for organising the coach and seats. Those who went said the they really enjoyed going, not having to worry about parking and being among friends. THis could be a regular happening, so watch this column for more details.
