THANK YOU: A big thank you to everyone that helped to make the final big lunch so much fun last Sunday. Sixty diners enjoyed a delicious hot three course lunch with coffee and mints. There was so much chatter and laughter it was obvious everyone was happy. The girls in the kitchen did a fabulous job and the waitresses were on the ball. It was a great chance for me to say a proper thank you to all those who have been so loving and supportive not just with my charity work but all my life. Donations were given to Macmillan Nurses (£375) and Friends of Fairfield Surgery (£240) by the diners.
MUSIC: The Pavilion at Burwash Common will host another of the popular music nights at 8pm tonight, Friday. Musicians and singers from the local area will be there to entertain you. They would be delighted if you went along and enjoyed a relaxed evening, why not take friends and have a fun night together. The licenced bar will be open.
CONCERT: The Warbleton Brass Band will give a Remembrance concert at the village hall tomorrow, Saturday, afternoon at 2pm in aid of the Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes. Tickets are £5 and available on the door. There will be a raffle and refreshments. Do go along and enjoy the music of this great band of musicians.
FIREWORKS: Burwash Bonfire Society will be holding their annual bonfire and firework display tomorrow, Saturday, evening at the Swan Meadow Playing Fields. The fun begins at 7pm. This a safe family event with big bonfire and professional fireworks. There will also be a barbecue and refreshments. Prizes for the best Halloween fancy dress which will be judged at 7.30pm. Entry is free but donations would be welcome. Please note there will not be any parking on the playing fields. Please remember to leave your pets safely indoors with the light on. Have a fun time.

SOUP: On Thursday there will be another soup lunch at the village hall. As always there will be several delicious homemade soups and desserts for you all to taste. The fun starts at 12.30pm for 1pm eat. There will be a raffle and a tombola stall. All proceeds will go to the village hall new window fund. Entry is £7.50 payable at the door. Why not call Mary and tell her you will be there.
BATEMAN’S: Next Friday, October 30, you are invited to a Halloween Spooky Supper at Bateman’s. The cost is £27 and includes a visit to Bateman’s after dark, to explore the world of the macabre with Geoff Hutchinson, through the words of the great and not so great writers and poets. There will of course be humour, music and song, followed by supper in the Mulberry Restaurant.Booking is essential by calling 01435 882302.
HALLOWEEN: Next Saturday, October 31, there are two Halloween parties in our villages. The first one is by the Buzzy Bees Pre-school, at the Sports Pavilion on Swan Meadow Playing Fields at 3.30pm to 5.30pm. This is for children aged 2 to 5 years and is a fancy dress party. The £5 per child will include a personal Halloween photograph, food and games. Booking is essential on 01435 883422 or email@example.com
The second one is being held at the Wheel Inn from 4pm until late. This Halloween Fancy Dress Spectacular will include a kids party from 4pm to 8pm with fireworks at 7.30pm. Live music from 8.30pm. Free buffet, prizes for best dressed child and adult. Raffle with fantastic prizes. All proceeds to the Burwash Primary school.
BOWLS: The latest results for the Burwash Short Mat Bowls Club in their matches for the Wealden League division two was against Ringmer away. In the triples Wayne Reed, Angela Marden and Gavin Wood won 17-7 and Keith Marden, Alan Green and Alec Martin lost 7-16. The pairs Margaret Waterhouse and Barry Taylor lost 9-13 and Julie Hawkins and Keith Wood won 14-13. This gave Burwash four more league points. The clubs next match is away to Herstmonceux.
