BEXHILL and Battle MP Greg Barker has hailed the decision to give the go-ahead to the link road as “the best news for our area in a generation”.
Mr Barker, the Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change, said the scheme had the potential to transform the economic prospects of the area.
Speaking at Westminster shortly after the decision was announced, Mr Barker said: “The new investment in the Bexhill Link Road announced by George Osborne in his budget for growth is the best news for our area in a generation.
“After 13 years of Labour’s broken promises on the Link Road, the Coalition is delivering for Bexhill and Hastings.
“It has the potential to transform the economic prospects of our town while safeguarding the environment of rural Rother from unsuitable housing development.
“The involvement of The Prince’s Foundation for Building Community in the development of businesses and homes that will go hand in hand with the new road will mean that we can look forward to an iconic green project setting a new standard for sustainability here in Bexhill.”
