Cake and coffee help All Saints raise over £200

A LOCALLY-renowned cake stand helped All Saints Church raise over £200 at their monthly coffee morning on Saturday.

Father Trevor Buxton, parish priest of All Saints in Sidley said: "These monthly coffee mornings are important for us, and the general day to day running of the church and hall.

"Today has gone very well and we are very grateful as always for the support people offer us.

"Every bit of fundraising goes to keep the roof over our heads. We do depend on the fundraising exercises to augment the giving from the community."

Bric-a-brac and a raffle complimented the cake stand, and Jeanne Cratchley, one of a pair of women who regularly run a coffee morning bookstall, had a particularly good day. She said: "We've made 10 and we only charge 10p a book. That's wonderful."

Next Saturday, September 12, sees another All Saints coffee morning with a challenge involved.

A stallholder explained: "We have all got a stall each which we are stocking with five pounds. We've got to be try and be creative, and aim to double or triple that."

Plenty more cakes will have been prepared by then.
