Care home managerin line for top award

Christine Boniface, manager of The Laurels Nursing Home, Hastings was invited to attend an interview with the judging panel of the Great British Care Awards at the Grand Hotel in Brighton on October 12. The award is given to someone who can demonstrate a high level of expertise together with exceptional skills in managing the complex business of running a care home.

Christine took over the leadership of The Laurels in 2007. Since then it has gone from strength to strength. In 2012 it was one of only 14 nursing homes nationally to receive the Investors in People Gold Award, and its new extension was shortlisted for a Pinders Healthcare design Award in 2014. This year the Laurels received a Judges Special Recognition Award in the 1066 Business Awards large business category.

Christine acknowledges the homes commercial success but says her aim is and has always been to increase the wellbeing and quality of life for all those in my care. “My role as matron and manager at the Laurels allows me to continue to do so on a daily basis and it is something I never take for granted,” she said.

Winners will be announced at a special gala awards dinner in Brighton on November 30.

The Great British Care Awards are a series of regional events throughout England and are a celebration of excellence across the care sector. The purpose of the awards is to pay tribute to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.
