Carers in Bognor can find out how money matters

A money-matters market for carers is being held in Bognor Regis.

The event will take place on Thursday, December 1.

Various organisations will be present at the town hall from 11am until 3pm to talk to carers about improving their financial wellbeing.

Arun District Council’s energy efficiency officer will show how to cut gas and electricity bills, Jobcentre Plus representatives will speak about employment and training, and Bognor’s CAB staff will pass on their knowledge about benefits and debt.

Other organisations which will be represented include Age UK West Sussex and Thomas Eggar solicitors.

The event has been organised by the Carers Support Service Regis, Chichester and Rural. Louise Spong, its information and development manager, said: “Research shows that 75 per cent of carers are worse off as a result of their caring role.

“Some people may have given up work to look after a relative. Others may be struggling to keep employment while caring at a distance.

“Whatever the circumstances, there will be plenty of opportunity for local carers to find out what help and support is available.”

The event is being held as part of national charity Carers UK’s carers’ rights day. Entry is free but carers need to book a place. More details from Ms Spong on 01243 537011 or email [email protected]
