Cash tribute to Littlehampton greenkeeper

GOLFERS raised more than £1,000 at an annual tournament held in memory of a much-missed friend.

The Graham Chitty Memorial Golf Day at Littlehampton Golf Course attracted a field of 60 players, and after their 18 holes the winner was Howard Neighbour.

Graham was just 32 when he died from cancer in 1995.

A greenkeeper, he worked on golf courses all over the world and was a keen sportsman, playing football for teams in the Littlehampton area.

Many of his friends take part in the tournament to remember Graham, and the proceeds are often donated to the Park Surgery in Littlehampton, as a mark of Graham’s family’s gratitude for the “fantastic” treatment and support he received there when he was ill.

Sponsors of the tournament and the bumper raffle held on the day included Bailiffscourt Hotel and Spa, The Fish Factory, Cuff Miller and many more local businesses.

Graham’s family have thanked everyone who helped to organise the day, especially Bola Akinola and Kevin Catherall, and all the players, for making it such a success.

A total of £1,050 was raised, which will go towards improving the treatment room at the surgery, enabling more procedures to be carried out.
