Catsfield

Tomorrow the Catsfield WI will be holding their Strawberry Tea afternoon from 3pm – 5pm in the Village Hall. There will be home-made scones and jam with plenty of delicious local strawberries and fresh cream – a bargain at £4 for adults and £2 for children. There will be a cake stall too, so treat yourself and at the same time help to raise money for Demelza Hospice Care for Children, the WI charity of the year.

At the fund-raising Car Boot Sale held on the playing field last Saturday thirty-six car boot sellers came along. Despite the rain during the night there was a lovely sunny start to the morning, which made it a pleasant and very friendly event. One hundred and seventy people came to buy and Pauline, Brenda and Jane made umpteen cups of coffee, tea, hot bacon rolls and hot dogs. The fantastic sum of £564.10 was raised towards Church funds, every seller went away having made a profit and the buyers left with some great bargains.

Don’t forget to buy your tickets in the Village Stores for the next big fund-raising event for the church, a “Summer Concert” with Rother Community Choir, St Laurence Church Choir and Guest Artists. This will be on Friday 11th July 2014 at St Laurence Church, Catsfield starting at 7.30pm. Entry £6, to include light refreshments.

It’s a very short Village Voice this week with nothing new to write about! If you have some appropriate village news or an event to bring to the attention of the readers, please call me on 01424 316309 or email [email protected]
