CHAIRMAN'S TREK RAISES £13,000

WEALDEN District Council chairman Cllr Mrs Pat Kennedy has returned from a sponsored walk in China having raised more than £13,000 for her charity, the Sussex Air Ambulance Appeal.

Donations resulted from her recent walk, a previous hike in Peru and a charity auction.

At the reception at the East Sussex National Golf Club in Uckfield Cllr Kennedy paid tribute to the many voluntary organisations she had met during her time as Chairman, in particular the Friends of East Sussex Hospices and the Crowborough Choral Society.

The reception was attended by people from neighbouring authorities and David Philpott, chief executive of the Kent Air Ambulance Trust.

Entertainment was provided by the East Sussex Music Service Quartet and concert pianist Warren Mailley-Smith.

Auctioneer was Chief Executive, Charles Lant.
