Paul who runs a local children’s charity said: “Due to cuts being made in the NHS the Conquest Hospital is reducing the funding available for children who are severely disabled and need hydrotherapy treatment.

“My wife and I spoke about doing something to help children and families in need and came up with the idea of Splash and Play. The sessions will see the parent/carer be in the water with the child. They will be able to exercise the limbs of the child in warmer pool waters (31.4C), other siblings are also welcome to come along and get in the water at the same time making it an all inclusive family session.

“The sessions will be limited to 10 adults and 10 children at one time to ensure plenty of space in the pool. It will put both children and parents at ease knowing their child is not being stared at and hopefully create a relaxed environment. A lot of families feel isolated and alone but by offering these sessions it will allow people to make friends and integrate with other children of similar conditions.

“Once the sessions are underway and a demand is needed we will look to bring in a physiotherapist to offer hydrotherapy for the children”

Sharna said: “We would like to thank the Hastings Lions Club who have supported us with funding to help with getting the Splash and Play Swim Session off of the ground.”
