Charity to cook up new meals scheme in Bognor

The I-Cook enterprise will see clients of Aldingbourne Trust taught how to prepare meals.

It will be run by the trust from new premises in Aldwick Road. Michelle McKinley Bell, the trust’s enterprise and development manager, said: “Within the current changing funding restraints, we are seeking new ways to help people maintain their independence.

“I-Cook sessions will support people to develop cooking and nutritional skills. At the end of the session, they can take home their cooking and, for example, home freeze meals for the next few days.”

The venture has been helped by a £1,000 donation from Chichester Lions Club. This came from its latest Easter egg raffle. Its proceeds of just over £600 were topped up by the Lions.

Lion president Vince Foote and treasurer Tony Harrison presented the cheque at the trust’s Aldingbourne Country Centre.

The club supported the trust when it began some 34 years ago.

“I’m amazed at how the country centre has developed over the years,” said Vince.

It has a woodland walk and animals such as alpacas and goats among other animals to enjoy.
