Charity’s garden fair in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice

The New Horizons Appeal Garden and Local Produce Fair takes place next Thursday (May 15) to raise money for St Catherine’s Hospice.

The event at Summers Place, Billingshurst, promises an array of wonderful stalls and advice from experts on gardening and antiques.

This year is particularly special for New Horizons. The volunteer group is celebrating 25 years raising money for St Catherine’s Hospice.

The fair starts at 8.30am with a bubbly preview breakfast, tickets £12.50 each, in the Gallery of Summers Art Advisory Services. A barbecue breakfast, fruit juices and muesli will served.

At 10.30am Dendy Easton of BBC Antique Roadshow fame will open the fair with gardening expert Jean Griffin, the gardening voice of BBC Radio Sussex, Surrey and Kent.

Dendy will remain to assist with valuations during the fair joined by other leading specialists will join him to value coins, medals, postage stamps, toys, militaria, paintings, musical instruments, silver and works of art.

At 11.30am gardening expert Jean will be joined by Robert Bradshaw, gardener at Gravetye Manor in West Hoathly for a talk on these famous, historic gardens.

The fair has become regarded as a mini ‘Chelsea’ bringing to West Sussex a wealth of specialist plant growers to chat about plants and growing. Foodies also love the fair as it offers wonderful tastes, smells and delights to try and buy.

An artistic addition this year is Billingshurst-based Sussex Sculpture dedicated to art for the home or garden.
