Family-owned independent supermarket Jempson’s is selling what could be the cheapest fuel in the UK.

The Peasmarsh-based retailer dropped the price of unleaded at its flagship site to 99.9 pence per litre (ppl) today (Monday, November 23).

Diesel fell to 103.9ppl.

According to fuel price comparison website PetrolPrices.com, the minimum price for unleaded as of November 19, was 102.9ppl and the average was 107.9ppl.

The minimum diesel price was 104.9ppl and 110.1ppl the average.

“Since our inception in 1935, we have been on a mission to give our customers the best service and deals week in and week out,” said Stephen Jempson.

“We hope to continue to fly the flag for the independent retailers – proving that they can compete against the multiple retailers.

“Fuel pricing is just one of our unique selling points.

“We hope that along with strong promotions in our stores we can continue to prove the point.”
