A Christmas tree voucher campaign to help raise money for local schools is set to expand.
The initiative, which was run by Catsfield Christmas Tree Farm for the first time last year, resulted in a total of £256 being donated to PTAs.
Fifteen schools took part in the scheme including: Catsfield; Dallington; Battle; Ninfield; St Mary Magdalene; All Saints in Sidley; Bexhill High; Charters Ancaster; Crowhurst; Glenleigh; King Offa; Herstmonceux, Little Common, Netherfield and Vinehall.
In return for putting leaflets with vouchers in pupils’ book bags, each school was given £40 towards a freshly cut Christmas tree and a £2 donation for each tree purchased by parents and families. One hundred and twenty eight vouchers were returned.
Catsfield Christmas Tree Farm owner Clive Collins says the scheme was such as success that he is inviting more schools will take part this year.
“All local schools are struggling for funds so we wanted to do our bit to help them. We also wanted the children and teachers to enjoy having a real festive tree. We hope we can raise even more money this year.”
