Cool mum wins festive top 40

BEXHILL mother-of-three Alison Sloat is preparing for a musical Christmas after winning the top 40 CDs in an on-air radio competition.

Alison, 33, of London Road, scooped the prize in Southern FM's "Have you got the baubles?" competition, which has been dishing out gifts in the run-up to Christmas.

Alison and her husband Derek, 38, a baker with Earl's Bakery, will now have to decide what to do with all the chart-topping music. The couple, who have three sons, Chris, 13, Ryan, 11 and three-year-old Jonathan, say some of the CDs may be given away as presents.

Alison said: "My niece has already been on the phone and earmarked the Westlife one. I suppose my favourite would be Eminem, even though I'm 33. They say I'm a cool mum.

"I reckon Elton John and Blue will be Number One for Christmas. I don't think either of the Popstars bands will make it to Number One."

Alison said: "I always have the radio on and I have been listening to the competition. The person before me guessed incorrectly but it gave me the clue I needed to win.

"I just called up, got through and won the prize. I was delighted. It's great."
