Couple flee fromknife attacker

A MAN and woman had to shelter in their car after they were threatened by a knife wielding attacker in a terrifying incident at Pett Level.

The victims had to shelter in their Citroen C3 car when the assault took place in Pett Level Road at 4.15pm on Monday July 8.

Police say the man who attacked the couple was thrusting a knife at them through the windows of the car.

Detective Sergeant Tony Webb said: “We are seeking any witnesses who observed the incident or the build up to it.

“The man is known to the couple and there was an incident beforehand that led to this attack.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call 101 quoting serial 1174 of 08/07. Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Elsewhere in the Rye area the current hot weather has led to thefts from people sunbathing or involved in activities.

Two i-Phones were stolen from the Salts recreation area at Rye at around 4pm on July 3.

They are described as a white iPhone 4 and a black iPhone 5.

Northiam is still suffering vandalism and theft.

For wheelchairs stolen from barn at High Park Close between 5.30pm on June 18 and 11am on July 4. Three of the wheelchairs were found nearby.

The inflatable cover and exterior of a hot-tub at Hylands Close, Northiam, was cut and damaged overnight on July 1.

Fuel was stolen from a black VW Lupo parked at main Street, Iden overnight on July 5.
