A PENSIONER died on Monday evening after colliding with a car on the A259 at Ferring.

The accident has prompted one road user to call for safety measures to be installed on the road for the sake of drivers and pedestrians.

Sarah Garbutt said she uses the road every day and saw the aftermath of the crash on Monday evening.

She said: "The A259 is a very busy road and has a 50 miles an hour speed limit.

"There is only one safe place for pedestrians to cross.

"I drive down it every day and quite often have a bullish driver on my bumper trying to pressure me to go faster.

"I saw a dead person on Monday night and I really don't want to see another one.

"Please West Sussex County Council have a look at what can be done to prevent this kind of accident happening again."

Police are appealing for witnesses to Monday night's incident, which happened close to Ferring Lane.
