Antiques stolen in house break-in

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a burglary in Burwash Common in which two distinctive items of property were stolen.

The break-in happened at a house in Heathfield Road between February 7 and 10 while the occupant was away.

The owner returned home to discover a door had been forced open.

A 120-year-old round cut glass bowl with a silver rim and about 10 inches in diameter had been stolen, together with an antique telephone, described as a light coloured square box with the phone receiver across the top.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area between the relevant dates, or who thinks they may have seen the stolen items, is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101, or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
