Boy, 14, arrested after girl sexually assaulted in Hastings park

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested after a girl was sexually assaulted in a Hastings park.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said police received a report of a sexual assault in Alexandra Park, Hastings, at 9.15pm on Sunday (March 14),

It was reported the incident had happened around 30 minutes prior to the call being made to police, a spokesman confirmed on Monday afternoon (March 15).

The victim, a teenage girl, is receiving support from specialist officers, police said.

Police investigating the matter have arrested a 14-year-old boy in relation to the assault. He remains in custody at this time, police added.

Officers will be carrying out patrols in the area to provide reassurance to communities and to identify and deter any criminal behaviour.

Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information about what happened is asked to contact police online or by calling 101 quoting serial 1218 of 14/03.

Pictures from the scene showed a section of the play area taped off this morning, and two police vehicles, include a scene of crime (SOCO) van, in attendance.
