A CONCERNED Crowhurst resident who called police to report a suspected van break in, unwittingly helped officers to uncover a mini drugs factory.

The villager called police at 11.30pm on August 9, fearing someone was trying to break into a vehicle in Forewood Rise.

Police attended the scene and spoke to the suspect.

Officers quickly established the man was not trying to break into any vehicles, but when he was searched, officers found an amount of what they believed to be cannabis.

The 36-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possessing the Class B drug.

Police officers decided to search the man’s home in Wilton Road, Bexhill, where they discovered around 40 cannabis plants.

The man was questioned and released on police bail until October 22, pending further enquiries.
