Court results - Mid Sussex

Paul James, 27, of Valebridge Drive, Burgess Hill, was banned from driving for a year, with a £260 fine, a £26 victim surcharge, and £85 costs. He had pleaded guilty to driving with illegal levels of a cannabis metabolite in his blood.

Mark Ratcliffe, 59, of Holmbush Lane, Henfield, was banned from driving for a year, with a £555 fine, a £56 victim surcharge, and £85 costs. He had pleaded guilty to drink driving at Bolney.

James Steele, 27, of Autumn Close, Crawley, was given a 12 week jail sentence, suspended for 18 months, with 200 hours of unpaid work, £780 compensation, an £80 victim surcharge, and £85 costs. He had pleaded guilty to criminal damage, breaching a non-molestation order by making threats, and two counts of assaulting a police officer, all in Haywards Heath. A restraining order was made, barring him from contacting the victim, or going to an address in Haywards Heath.

Nigel Turner, 54, of Hoddern Avenue, Peacehaven, was fined £440, with a £44 victim surcharge, £85 costs, and six penalty points added to his licence. He had been convicted in his absence of driving without due care and attention at Bolney.

Robert Whiteman, 24, of Junction Road, Burgess Hill, was banned from driving for six months, with a £660 fine, a £66 victim surcharge, and £85 costs. He had been convicted in his absence of driving without insurance.

Rokib Abdul, 35, of Kilnmead, Crawley, was fined £220, with a £22 victim surcharge, £85 costs, and three penalty points added to his licence. He had been convicted in his absence of speeding at Bolney.

James Smith, 24, of St Andrews Road, Burgess Hill, was fined £200, with £250 compensation, a £20 victim surcharge, and £85 costs. He had pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage to the door of a Co-op in Burgess Hill.

Christopher Jones, 24, of St Winifreds Close, Bognor Regis, was fined £80, with £13.67 compensation, a £20 victim surcharge, and £85 costs. He had pleaded guilty to theft of food from a Co-op in Burgess Hill.

Michael Jones, 21, of St Winifreds Close, Bognor Regis, was given a community order with 40 hours of unpaid work, £13.67 compensation, a £60 victim surcharge, and £85 costs. He had pleaded guilty to theft of food from a Co-op in Burgess Hill, and admitted breaching a conditional discharge.
