Here is a roundup of some of the most serious sentencings and court hearings in Sussex in March. All sentencing details accurate at time of convictions.

Smith punched a police officer in the face in an unprovoked attack in Broadwater Street West while drunk, police said. The attack was captured on bodycam video (right). He pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker, criminal damage, breaching a community order and breaching a suspended prison sentence order (which he had been given for head butting another police officer and assaulting two other police officers). He was jailed for 18 weeks.
