Man arrested following major Eastbourne incident

A man has been arrested after following a major incident in Eastbourne this afternoon (Sunday, July 5).

A large police response was called to a house in Broad Oak Close this afternoon and a woman was found with serious injuries, police have said.

A 62-year-old man has been arrested.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "Police and ambulance paramedics are attending a house in Broad Oak Close, Eastbourne, where a woman has been found with serious injuries.

"The alarm was raised at 1.59pm on Sunday (July 5).

"As a result of the incident, a 62-year-old man was detained by police officers in Chailey just after 3pm on Sunday.

"There are currently no further details."
