Woman assaulted in Haywards Heath

Police are investigating an assault on a woman as she walked home in Haywards Heath in the early hours of Sunday morning (July 29).

The woman, 25, had been with friends in the town and was walking alone down Bentswood Road just after midnight when she was grabbed around the waist from behind and pulled backwards.

She grabbed the man’s hand and pulled it away before punching him, causing him to fall before she ran off.

PC Ben Easton said: “We are keen to trace this man whose actions left the woman in distress. Did you see this man in the area or witness what happened? He’s described as white, skinny, between 20 and 30-year-old, with spiky hair, about 5ft 8in, wearing blue jeans, white trainers and a plain white polo T-shirt.”
