A man who stole from a Poppy Appeal collecting tin at Robertsbridge Station has been branded ‘despicable’ by British Transport Police.
A CCTV image of a man officers want to identify has been released, after a £10 note was taken from the tin in the station’s ticket office, around 11.15am on Tuesday, 4 November.
Detective Sergeant Leigh Marshall said: “A truly despicable crime as the country was remembering its war dead – and money collected to mark the sacrifice of so many was stolen for personal gain. I need to find the person responsible.
“Do you know the man in the CCTV image I have released today? Were you at Robertsbridge exactly a week before the two minute silence? Maybe you saw something?
“If you have any information on this theft, or know the man in the CCTV image, please contact BTP.”
