Drumming up the Olympic spirit

A VIBRANT children's parade will open Party in the Park celebrations in Bexhill's Egerton Park next Saturday, July 23.

The event is part of Rother’s Cultural Olympiad celebratory countdown to 2012, with Rother District Council’s Arts Development Service working in partnership with the Friends of Egerton Park to create it.

It aims to build on the success of a previous collaboration which produced Bexhill’s Green Day event, and presages next year’s Olympic Games in London.

St Mary’s, King Offa Primary, Sidley Primary, Chantry Primary, Bexhill High and Rye College, together with the Bexhill Children’s Centre, Sidley and Pebsham Youth Services will also play a part in the colourful parade.

Following on will be further arts performances and sporting activities on and around the adiZone. Other attractions include Capoeira, basketball, the 1066 Gymnastics group, street games and fitness training.
