East Preston villagers’ views to be aired at public meeting

VIEWS on how crime and disorder can be tackled are being sought this weekend.

East Preston residents are being invited to attend a public meeting, organised by the Safer Arun Partnership and East Preston Parish Council, on Saturday (February 25).

Richard Bartram, from Arun District Council said: “It’s really important that residents come along to this meeting and tell us how they think we should tackle their concerns.”

The meeting has been organised following a door-to-door community issues survey last month.

More than 60 households gave their views on the area and whether they would be willing to get more involved in local activities.

Peter Vincent, chairman of East Preston Parish Council’s community engagement committee, said: “The survey has given a lot of good information about the concerns and issues residents have.”

He said he would be taking the issues to full council for action and the comments will be considered when the council drafts its Community Led Plan.

The meeting will be held in the Guide Hall, on the Lashmar Road recreation ground, in East Preston, from 10am.

It will give residents the opportunity to learn the results of the survey and discuss their concerns with police, district and parish council representatives.
