Dan Garnham, a former member of The Rattonians, popped the question to his girlfriend Victoria Haynes on Saturday night’s popular ITV show with a little help from Geordie presenters Ant and Dec.

Dan, who had flown over from New York where he currently works with the Blue Man Group, was watched by millions as he got down on one knee and Victoria accepted his wedding proposal.

The surprise proposal followed a ten minute segment for Victoria who discovered, by hidden-camera footage, that her parents had followed her and Dan on their travels abroad last year.

The show – the first in the new series – was watched by more than seven million people.
